The purpose of a tv show website is so the viewer can find out more about the show. These websites usually contain behind the scenes footage, information about the show and information on the presenters and maybe the crew members.
Top Gears website is very simple and professional as it has a basic colour theme of black and white. They have a small banner/heading at the top with the log and a picture of the main presenters.
There is a lot of content on the website such as articles on cars, trending articles, road test reviews, extra footage and much more. An aspect I like about the website is te reviews page where you can see a review by browsing by the make, body type, or price of the car.
They also have a tab on the navigation panel which informs the viewer on the latest car shows which at the moment is the New York Motor Show. It gives the viewer a complete guide to the show which is very helpful. There are also links to their social media in the top bar which is useful as the viewer can find them on different platforms and follow them to see new and different content to what’s just on the website.
There is also the Top Gear shop where people can buy the show’s merchandise. The website also advertises their app which is a game but it’s a very small advert and there isn’t much information on it such as if its available on apple or android etc. The website also advertises and persuades the viewer to subscribe to their magazine.
Some improvements that could be made are to have a better colour theme as this would make the website more interesting and inviting. The colour theme could also match the set design on the show which could help relate and link both the show and website better. Another could be to have a larger banner as it is overshadowed by the content.
Similarly, The Gadget Show’s website is also very simple. There is a large picture of the presenters which is very welcoming. The colour theme matches the show as its white and blue which links the two platforms (the TV show and website) well and makes it easily recognisable.
Unlike Top Gear, there isn’t a lot of content. This could be due to The Gadget Show not having an official website as it’s on Channel 5’s website. There is a section where you can catch up on all the episodes from the latest season and also a few clips from a few of the episodes. This is helpful as you don’t have to watch full episodes if you want to watch something specific.
Like Top Gear, there isn’t much information about the presenters or crew which is a shame as they are one of the main parts of the show.
Improvements I think should be made could be to have more information about the show and the presenters. They could also add their social media so the viewer can interact on multiple platforms.
